Spring Break for a Book Nerd
This has been a busy week between catching up after a big writers’ conference, enjoying the release of a new book, and planning a launch event. On Monday I had the fun of being a guest on my friend Kay Marshall Strom’s blog, and yesterday a devotional I wrote for a blog called Deeper Waters went live. My sister Kristy’s kids have spring break this week but her husband had to go to Spain on business (I know, poor man), so all three of them are hanging out with us. Next week Nathan has spring break, so we’re heading to the cabin for a few days. I know I should probably get some work done while I’m there, but after so much activity I will probably want to curl up with a book, at least for a while. That’s my idea of a nice vacation—extra time spent with family and extra time spent with books. Here are the latest additons to my library:
Knit, Purl, Pray: 52 Devotions for the Creative Soul by my friend Lisa Bogart – Sometimes it’s nice to read a light, fun devotional.
The Art of Memoir by Mary Karr – Someday I hope to write one. More on that later.
A New Kind of Normal by Carol Kent – I heard Carol speak at Mount Hermon and her story touched me deeply. This title immediately spoke to me. Hmm, I wonder why.
So what about you? What is your idea of a restful break? What is one your current reading list? That’s my idea of a nice vacation—extra time spent with family and extra time spent with books. Click To Tweet
